About the Workshop Facilitator

Frank Lim Hock Ming is an International Association of Facilitators Certified Professional Facilitator (IAF-CPF) who is adaptive and sensitive to the group's dynamics during the group sessions. He had facilitated leadership, innovation and also conducted various workshops to equip participants with facilitation tools and how to be a facilitator.

Introductory Workshop on Dialogue

On the 13th & 14th June 2011, Theresa Ratnam will be the facilitator for a 2-day workshop titled "Introductory Workshop on Dialogue".

Brief Synopsis

Dialogue is an intriguing activity, yet an integral part of our communication with people around us. Dialogue provides us the opportunity of arriving at shared meanings in a given situation. While we say we are engaged in a dialogue, one still feels unheard or misunderstood at the end of the dialogue. There is a tendency to conclude a dialogue without full closure of what is intended. This two-day workshop is intended to review current methods utilized when facilitating groups involved in dialogue; and to consider the possible dialogic approaches to assist us move towards being generative in our actions.

This is a workshop for people who are involved in dialogue work or facilitate groups involved in dialogue.

About the Workshop Facilitator

Ms Theresa Ratnam is a Co-owner / Director of Asian Management Research Consultancy Sdn Bhd. She is a Certified Professional Facilitator and Assessor. She served on the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) Board as Vice-Chair (2007 – 2008) and the Regional Coordinator for Asia (2001 –2003). She is also a member of the Association of Psychological and Educational Counsellors of Asia (APECA).

Theresa has been in the field of training and facilitation, focusing on human, organization and community development, for the past thirty two years. In the past fifteen years she also focused on sustainable development and urban development. Theresa has written and co-facilitated one of the modules for the Professional Diploma in Training and Development for the Centre for Continuing Education, University Malaya.

Theresa also served as a Councilwoman for the Local Government - Subang Jaya Municipal Council (2008 – 2010). She is a member of the Residents' Representative Committee and served as the Chairperson from 2002 - 2004; 2008 - 2010. She has also served as the Chairperson of the Lafite Apartments Management Corporation (2005 – 2008) and was a Member of the Malaysian Lasallian Education Council (2005 - 2007).She is part of the Facilitators' Group in Malaysia devoted to advancing facilitation in the Region. She is also part of the organizing committee that organises the Annual IAF Asia Facilitator Conferences in the Region.

Theresa was among many facilitators selected worldwide to facilitate in the meetings of the multi-stakeholder process during the Implementation Conference at the World Summit on Sustainable Development held at South Africa in 2002. She also facilitated the United Nations Country Team Retreat on the Millennium Development Goals Draft Report for Malaysia. She was also the Lead Facilitator for the CEOs Roundtable Dialogue during the Women@Work Summit in 2003. In addition, she was the Chief Facilitator at the Malaysia Water Forum in 2004. She was also invited to participate in the Global Community Launch Meeting of the Generative Dialogue Project in New York, U.S.A. in 2005. She is part of the Group for the Global Generative Change Community which promotes the use of dialogue and other dialogic processes to help bring about individual, organizational and societal transformation.

About the Workshop Facilitator

Prabu Naidu brings 19 years experience in various functions with Philips, AT&T and Compaq which set the foundation for his current twelve years of training, facilitation and consulting work. He holds a Masters in Organizational Behaviour and is a member of numerous professional organizations in the USA, UK and Singapore. He is a Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) with the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) and a Certified Master Facilitator (CMF) with the International Institute for Facilitation (INIFAC). He served on the IAF board as the Asian Regional Representative from 2005-2009. He co-founded the Facilitators Network in Singaporein 2004 to elevate the profession of facilitation in the region. Prabu has designed and delivered numerous OD interventions in the private and public sector in the Asian region.
